Exterior Holiday Christmas Home

Adding Christmas magic to the exterior of your Holiday Home

Every year I love to add Christmas window wreaths and garlands to my exterior holiday home decor.  It’s so simple to do, and is one of the most frequently asked questions on Instagram is, ‘Chell how do you get your wreaths on your windows?!’  The answer is surprisingly simple I purchased the most amazing window suction hooks and use two per window – seriously that is it.  You can find the actual suction cup in the scrolling tool bar below.

A holiday porch is the first thing people notice as they drive up or by your house.  Having a cheerful porch doesn’t have to cost you a lot or take much effort.  Here are a few simple things to think about as your style your own Christmas Porch.

  • Pick 2 colors to add that will look great with you existing home colors and style

    • Here I used all of my existing porch and front door decor and simply added a pop of red berries and poinsettias with my fresh and faux greenery
    • Look at colors and items you already have, I love to re-purpose and move my decor from one area of my home to another, you may notice that from year to year.  (hopefully not)

  • Think about adding a theme

    • I went with classic Christmas – is that the feel you take away from my porch style?
    • When I choose a theme it is generally an over all feel that I want people to take away from the space, like I have done in my Summer Simple Neutral Summer Table.
    • If a theme isnt your thing, what about an object like poinsettias or ornaments.   Is there something you can add into your planters to keep your look theme consistent?

  • Mix fresh and faux into your decor and planters

    • Don’t be afraid to use what you have or find fresh greens from your yard or a local nursery and put them right into the dirt in your planters or tie them into your faux greenery.
    • These Fresh greens are from Home Depot.  I always love checking out there seasonal decor, over the years made some great finds.  Including the lanterns shown, which I purchased 3 years ago.

I hope these Holiday porch styling tips have helped you in thinking about ways to add cheer to your homes exterior.  Speaking of beautiful homes, check out some of my friends Holiday Homes.
